Port Sheldon Natural Area

This Open Space Land is 440 acres including gently rolling terrain, woods, wildlife ponds and Ten Hagen Creek. Ten Hagen Creek runs through the property and there is an extensive but unmarked trail system. Thinning of red pine plantations was conducted in some areas of the natural area in 2008. There are no restroom facilities.

  • Small parking area and information kiosk
  • Off-trail hiking and cross-country skiing
  • Dogs are allowed on or off leash

Hunting

Archery hunting only is permitted at the Port Sheldon Natural Area. See hunting for more information.

Park Hours

Port Sheldon Natural Area is open year-round, however, the parking area is not plowed in winter.

Open Space lands are open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Fees

There are no park fees.

Rules and Regulations

The following activities are prohibited at Port Sheldon Natural Area:
  • Trapping
  • Fires
  • Camping
  • Bicycles
  • All motorized vehicles
  • Horses

Directions

The Port Sheldon Natural Area is located in Port Sheldon Township. There are two small parking areas on 160th Avenue between Port Sheldon and Van Buren Streets.
